functional training


Primal Fitness is aimed at individuals with fitness levels from beginner to intermediate. No experience is needed to join this functional training program.  The emphasis of this program will be “fun” and “team” while enhancing the quality of your training and learning important skills through a variety of progressive methods that will ultimately give you results. 

Primal Fitness involves the use of functional training methods which is specifically programmed by our head coach to help you with the strength, stability, power, mobility, endurance and flexibility that you need to thrive as you move through your life and fitness journey. 

There will be a mix of boot camp, calisthenics, gymnastics and obstacle racing with a large bias towards body awareness and the ability to handle your own body weight. You will use basic functional movement patterns such as, pushing, pulling, hinging, squatting, rotating, lifting and gait patterns (running and walking).

Equipment used include kettle bells, medicine balls, dead balls, battle ropes, rings, pulls-up stations, dumbbells, box jumps, skipping ropes, agility ladders, TRX, crash mats, sleds, rowers, assault bikes and more.   

Our mission at Primal Fitness is to utilise exercises that improve your movement proficiency in these primary patterns to give you an edge and enhance your performance so you can achieve your fitness goals safely and in good health. 

This is a fun group based program designed to promote fitness and act as a springboard for progression onto more challenging programs such as Crossfit Canley Heights and The Heights Barbell Club.
